Christoph Waltz and Hong Chau discuss the profound message within Downsizing
Christoph Waltz, who played the villainous Blofeld in Bond film Spectre, speaks to promote his new film, Downsizing, in which he stars as a Serbian playboy who opts to be shrunk to five inches tall to help solve over-population.
He said comedy has its challenges as actors can overdo it at the expense of the film’s message. He said: “It’s more challenging… because that’s the pinnacle of the art to not disregard the depth or overdo the comedy at the expense of the deeper meaning.”
Dispelling any comparisons to Disney's Honey I Shrunk the Kids he said: “The difference is the shrinking here happens on purpose. It is scientifically founded and the intention is more than honourable.
“I admire people who can tell profound stories in a light and amusing manner because if you want people to pay attention it’s a fabulous vehicle to tell that in a light comedy form. And Alexander [Payne] really, really mastered this extraordinary feat.”
Waltz said he wouldn’t be keen to shrink like his character in Downsizing as “it would be useless because I’d still have a big mouth”.
Directed by Alexander Payne, the film also stars Matt Damon, Kristen Wiig and Hong Chau.

Would you shrink yourself in order to live a better life? That's what Alexander Payne's comedy Downsizing suggests. This high concept film stars Matt Damon as a man who jumps into a new trend by shrinking himself down to four-inches tall, where he can live in a shrunken community that allows him a more lavish lifestyle while simultaneously helping to save the planet. While he's there, he meets ...

Two most terrifying Nazis on screen in one room.
Hahaha Ralph "Coriolanus", "Red Dragon", "SS Officer Amon Göth" Fiennes fawning over Christoph Waltz like a starstruck little girl, it's such a heart melting scene that I don't know hwat. :)
1:39
A once in a generation actor He is Sublime And Sooooo polite
So I want Mr Tarantino to write a film with Mr Waltz as Putin-pretty please?
🧿❤💙🚗🚙❣🦋🧿
21:27
Amon Göth meets Hans Landa!!! Two of the most charming villains in cinema history😎😱
I’m 2.46 into this and I’m already sick of Rose’s voice. Shut the fuck up and let him talk. Irritating beyond belief.
Now I understand, why the most of his fans are women. Cristoph Waltz is the best. But i don't understand what he do on this scene - 0:38.
Lea is so stinking hot
I can listen and watch him talk allday, erryday.🙏🏽
I wish i had a voice like his
I wonder how he could speak English as his second or third language this eloquently and at the same time be a movie star.
He's honest enough to admit Quentin's importance for his self esteem and career (called vocation in order to keep up appearances :-)). Tarantino saved many actors in that way: last decent role for De Niro, only decent roles for Jackson, Travolta, Thurman, Madsen, highlight for Willis, Keitel and Walken, only decent roles for Tim Roth, ... The man is a Saint to actors and has the talent to share his cproduction with many different actors !
That's perfect for Hans.
Great interviewer and a great guest.
Sizi. Seviuoruz turkiyeden selam
Oh god this man 🤤
I had no idea Ralph was this soft spoken! What an amazing actor.
Is it possible for a woman to talk about working in a film or anything without them mentioning the "as a woman in the industry".. Bull 💩
Why do we give actors so much adulation and worship them, because when they ask them about their work they just say "It was easy, I just turn up".. or "all I had to do was get asked". Sounds simple 🤷🏼♂️
There's a better version in higher quality that this person stole this from, and will delete this comment because they're a scumbag ua-cam.com/video/fEX8yHesAX0/v-deo.html
This is a masterclass for most of us who have experienced that the usage of our mother tongues deteriorated hugely in the last few decades. As for a German speaking compatriot of Mr. Waltz I try to keep my Austrian German as precise and versatile as possible, even my dialect words. Thank you for keeping the "art of language" high, Mr. Waltz!
Monica Bellucci is my favorite Bond Girl ever.
It must be so hard to interview them. I think there is so much to tell(and I don't mean spoilers) but they give answers with an amount of sarcasm you never know what's true
i yearn for another tarantino film with this dude in it
Wat een shit interview zeg
Why is this so short? All the others AoA vidoes are three timees as long :(
wtf is going on with the sound?!?! where is the boom guy? one person is heard extremely loud and the other extremely quiet. and why is the video quality so low its 201something
I think he is the mosr humble actor
tarantino is such a weirdo looser and christoph waltz is just so confident and hot if they could trade heights it would be so over for quentin
I’m waiting for him to jump up and scream avada kidavra
Trottel Interviewer
Great❤❤❤❤😂
Lee Strasburg and Sandy Meisner were two very different teachers.
Inane interviewer.
Strasberg school teaching Meisner technique 😂 next Chekhov and Adler
Monica is legit the perfect woman
When voldy meets Blofeld
Love the way he always sounds creepy, but in a nice way.
AKA Hans Landa interviews Voldemort, you're welcome.
It is so strange to see Ralph Fiennes smile without villainous intent 😂😂😂
As an eastern european, we dont eat broken barley anymore😂just to be clear😂😂😂
I love his speech.also loved how he played col.Landa.a hard role.but Chris=hard work❤
This has to be the quietest and calmest interviews I’ve ever witnessed. Between two of the most explosive actors on screen.
Josh and Mark and legit friends, you can just tell.
Why tarantino use fiennes. Its make one of best
Ralph fiennes mi è piaciuto tanto
It's amazing 😊😊
